Consuming inventory items within business

Production orders can also be used to record the consumption of inventory items.

For example, a car dealer can use inventory items to track each car they have for sale and also use inventory items to track spare parts required by their service department.

Spare parts are not used to manufacture new vehicles. They are used to repair and maintain existing vehicles.

For example, you just used spare parts to maintain (or improve) a car which is also an inventory item.

In this case you decrease the quantity of spare parts in inventory without increasing the quantity of cars on hand.

In order to do this, follow the same procedure as manufacturing but when entering the quantity of the finished item, enter zero (number of cars will not increase).

When you do this, MYBOS will decrease your inventory of spare parts and transfer the cost of the spare parts into the vehicle.
